Our cafe

Plant-based comfort food, the Newtown way

Pránáh is a small, much-loved vegetarian cafe tucked into a heritage shopfront on Riddiford Street. For years we have been feeding Newtown with hearty, vegetarian and vegan food that doesn't cost the earth.

The cabinet is the heart of it: pies, pasties, quiches, slices and cakes all baked in house, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. Add a flat white, grab a window seat on the checkerboard floor, and settle in.

The BEST scrambled eggs in the country. Also my favourite cafe in Wellington. The food is made with love and great, fresh produce. It's my weekend go to for an affordable brunch. Anytime I have friends visiting from out of town or overseas, I take them here.

This vegetarian cafe has had amazing vegan cabinet food for quite a few years. They do fantastic treats during the Newtown festival each year as well. I recommend the mushroom pie with pumpkin and herb crust, the shepherds pie, their sausage roll and their custard square. They have a lot of gluten free options too.

Really enjoyed our lunch at this little cafe. I ordered the quesadilla and an oat milk iced chocolate, my partner ordered the tofu burger and a smoothie and it was all amazing, and such excellent value. So many vegan options too. The carrot cake and blueberry muffin were delicious. Service was quick and friendly too.

A great brunch spot with friendly staff and delicious food. The oat pancakes were fantastic, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. The customer service was excellent, our server was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try.

A note from the builder

Like it? It is yours.

I am Si from ProperSites. I build a real, working site for a business before I ever pitch it, so what you are looking at is the actual thing, made for Pranah Cafe, not a template with your name dropped in or a quote for something that does not exist yet.

The site is yours to keep. It is was $997 $697 to make it live on your own domain, then $49 a month just keeps it hosted and looked after. Month to month, never a lock-in, and if you ever leave you take the site with you. Most builders are the opposite: stop paying and your site disappears. Not here.
